Bee Gees - Breakdancer Wins Britains Got Talent

George Sampson, a 14-year-old breakdancer, has won Britain's Got Talent, netting himself a place on the Royal Variety Performance and £100,000.

Viewers voted Sampson the winner after his Singing in the Rain dance routine, which featured a shower on stage.

Warrington-born Sampson revealed he had changed the music an hour before the curtain went up. He had been set to perform to a Bee Gees track, but changed his mind and repeated the routine that had got him into the final.

After being announced the winner following the phone vote, Sampson said: "I'm speechless. Wow. Just thanks so much everybody."

Dance act Signature came second, while hot favourites 12-year-old opera singer Faryl Smith and all-girl string quartet Escala failed to make the last three.

Faryl Smith is still set to become a star, however, and Simon Cowell told the Sunday Mirror that the show has uncovered "an absolutely massive singing talent".

The ten finalists also included 13-year-old opera singer Andrew Johnston who made it into third place.

The final went head to head with the BBC's reality contest I'd Do Anything, in which Jodie Prenger won the role of Nancy in the West End musical Oliver!

According to the BBC, the ITV talent show won the ratings war with an average of 13.1 million viewers tuning in to watch Sampson win, compared to the 6.9 million who saw Prenger triumph on BBC1.
